Bus passenger transport glossary for Mexico

Corrida, tramo, corte, dotación, permisionario: the words a Mexican bus line uses every day, explained plainly, each one with the place in Boleti where you work with it.

38 terms in alphabetical order

A

Anticipo (deposit)

The part of the fare a passenger leaves to secure their seat. They get a deposit receipt, which is not valid for boarding. When they pay the rest they get their ticket, and if they don't pay in time the seat is released according to the deposit policy you set.

Apartado (seat hold)

A seat held in a passenger's name before it is fully paid. At the box office it is held with a deposit; in online sales it stays held for a limited time while the passenger pays, for example at OXXO, and it is released on its own if they don't pay.

B

C

Cambio de horario (schedule change)

When you move the departure time of a trip or the time of a stop, because of traffic or roadwork. In Boleti the following stops shift on their own, and only the passengers whose boarding time changes get the notice by WhatsApp and email.

CFDI 4.0 (Mexican e-invoice)

The Comprobante Fiscal Digital por Internet, the electronic invoice required by Mexico's tax authority (SAT), in its version 4.0. It comes as an XML file, which is the one that counts for SAT, and a PDF to read it. In Boleti every invoice stays linked to the ticket that produced it.

Clientes frecuentes (loyalty program)

The program that rewards people who travel with you often: every trip adds points, they move up a level and trade the points for tickets or prizes. Your passenger gets a reason to come back to you, without you lowering your fares for everyone.

Cobranza (cash review)

The team that reviews the money from the box offices: it approves deposit slips, checks expenses and verifies cash-ups. In Boleti it is a role that sees all of the company's money (on Coordinados, the manager only sees their own territory) but does not sell tickets or change the settings.

D

Depósito (bank deposit)

The cash from sales that the cashier takes to the bank. In Boleti they take a photo of the deposit slip with their phone, it is linked to their cash-up, and the cash review team compares it with what they had to deposit to approve or reject it.

F

G

I

K

Kilometraje (mileage)

The kilometers a bus has traveled, the number that tells you when it is due for service. With Boleti's GPS tracking you enter the real odometer reading once and the system keeps adding what the GPS measures, so you always have it at hand.

L

O

Orden de taller (work order)

The record of each breakdown or service on a bus. It has a folio, who reported it, which mechanic it was assigned to, which part was used and a photo of the finished job. The cost is charged to the bus, so you know what each one costs you.

P

Paquetería (parcels and shipments)

When your buses carry parcels and shipments as well as passengers. In Boleti each shipment is recorded on the trip it travels on, with its waybill and its payment, so it no longer depends on a separate notebook. It comes with every plan.

R

S

Socio (partner)

In a cooperative or coordinated company, the owner of one or more buses. In Boleti they check from their phone only their own routes and buses: trips, tickets, the GPS map, workshop spending and income, without changing anything or seeing other partners' data.

T

Tarifa por tramo (segment fare)

Charging each passenger only for the distance they ride: whoever gets on or off at a stop pays the fare for their segment, not for the whole route. Each segment's fare is entered when you build the route, stop by stop, so the box office no longer has to work it out.

U

V

Viaje redondo (round trip)

Outbound and return sold in a single transaction, with one payment and the same passenger. If you have a promotion for the return, the discount applies on its own and the cashier no longer does the math. In Boleti it comes with the Flotilla plan and up.
